GENESIS
A Socio-economic transformation process in Odisha State which was initiated by dedicated postgraduates of one of the leading universities of the state one and half decades back to address the marginalization and dispossession of people dependent on natural resources for their sustenance through participation in the struggles of the dis-empowered led to various successes and policy changes. This process took the formal shape of a Trust called Tapobhoomi in the year 2002 which has opened the avenues for augmented institutional collaborations with varied actors in the social, technical, academic, policy formulation and administration sectors spearheading a two pronged strategy for socio-economic and attitudinal transformation – macro level advocacy and micro level mobilization and models.
Formal details of Tapobhoomi Trust are as follows:
Name of the Organization : TAPOBHOOMI TRUST (TT)
Registration No. & Date : 822 / 10.10.2002
Registered Address : Nuagaon, P.O-Narayanipada, Via-Begunia Dist-Khurda-752062
Today the Trust is thriving only on the financial support of members, partners and supporters and NOT on any grant from government (The last grant was accepted in year 2012). We take a holistic approach to ensure that we truly assist the government in right thinking.
CORE BELIEF
Nature can give us…….
Wonderful ways to stay healthy
Ever-new resources for employing our gen-next in fast changing times of artificial intelligence
Healthy and sufficient food if we learn how to balance market forces with good governance
A beautiful individual identity and a sense of togetherness with our community
Peace, joy and harmony if we do not try to overpower it, but live in sync with humility & gratitude.
VISION
Generate consciousness for unity in diversity, through a societal process to conserve the Nature; uphold the Truth, Love, Justice and Righteousness; sustain the autonomy, values and dignity of the habitats with focus on the vulnerable and weak; assist the Government and Market in right thinking for harmonious and equitable development of all i.e. SARVODAYA — an unfinished agenda of Indian Independence Movement.
MISSION
An impetus of self realised transformational leaders for “Evolutionary Renaissance” aimed at empowerment and emancipation of the grass root community in consonance with scientific Wisdom.
OBJECTIVES
– To create an environment of learning with sankalp, sadhana and samarpan for knowledge so that seekers grow as integrated human beings enriched with saralta and vishwas (faith), humility, sacrifice and courage to love the creation in abundance and act dispassionately to save it from the looming disaster.
– To form a powerful civil societal body inculcated with spirit of spontaneity, voluntarism, mutuality and cooperation in order to represent the common mass and ensure harmonious and synergistic relationship among Nature, Society, Government and Market in accordance with the eternal laws and its symbiotic relationship with indigenous communities and endangered species.
– To Develop synergistic, participatory, inclusive and integrated governance, academic and entrepreneurial structures, that recognize community at the centre of development as primary stakeholder and not beneficiary.
– To Bridge the gaps in the governance and the public relationship for transparent, democratic, accountable system; non-corrupt and time bound functioning; appropriate and optimum delivery of goods and services; redressal of the grievances and punishment to the culprits.
– To question and if necessary resist the unconstitutional, inhumane decisions and injustices imposed by Administration, Judiciary and Legislative bodies even Corporate and Media houses upon the esteemed common mass, being within the Constitution of India.
– To awaken the conscience of the common citizens on the basis of logical thinking and mobilise them towards spirituality resulting in the prevalence of ‘Selfless Righteousness’ beyond the boundaries of age old rituals and religiosity ( that is now an instrument to bias through preaching and publicity by the vested interests.)
Conclusion: The eternal Joy of bliss sublimed, which is aim of life, can be experienced by not living as separate individuals but as indivisible part of the entire creation – Bhuma (Reality of panoramic existence).
OUR PROCESS
Our approach is to assist our associates in their journey. We go to them, live with them, learn from them, start with what they have, build on what they can, so that when community is mobilized, our associates would exclaim, ”We did it ourselves!”
Relationship building is integral to this process. Walking with one another in a selfless way is the key to take up bigger challenges later. If our associates are getting acquainted with healthy ways of interventions in a community, we are hand holding them happily and sharing nuances to traverse the journey in an effective and efficient manner. This would be their original path, nothing imposed from Tapobhoomi Trust.
This, in a nutshell, is (formation and dissemination of) Tapobhoomi Process.
Seeing oneself in others is the true manifestation of spirituality which can be experienced with an overwhelming joy in daily life. The Process envisages spiritual canvas as so broad that all issues related to personal, social and business life can be resolved by using this canvas prudently. Spirituality will be a guiding force for us to work towards self realization and social transformation.
May we create synergy
with a healthy understanding of one another,
towards building a treasure trove of righteousness, justice, volunteerism,
participatory governance, health, joy and peace
for our children.
